Students in grades 6-12 entered the Holocaust Museum and Learning Center’s Ninth Annual Art & Writing Contest. Artists, writers, filmmakers and more got their creative juices flowing - and won great prizes. The competition is dedicated to the memory of the 1.5 million children who perished in the Holocaust and is sponsored by Dr. Ira and Judy Gall in honor of their grandchildren. There are two divisions for both art and writing categories:
Division 1: 6-8th grade
Division 2: 9-12th grade.

Millstone Institute - Deborah Grayson Riegel

Deborah Grayson Riegel of MyJewishCoach.com and author of the recently released book, "Oy Vey is Not a Strategy," spoke at four programs for the Millstone Institute for Jewish Leadership. Riegel addressed the Millstone Fellows about how to create a positive and energized approach to community collaborations. The Millstone Fellows is the signature leadership program for the Millstone Institute. Following, Riegel hosted a talk about her new book which features 25 strategies for personal and professional success. Riegel also led two sessions for professionals from throughout the community. Nearly 50 staff from 20 different organizations attended. Building trust for organizational impact was the discussion with rabbis and executive directors and for managers and supervisors. The group learned about skills for guiding and motivating staff.

Through the use of photography and experientially based programs, TJL inspires youth and young adults to strengthen their own link to Judaism - while discovering the diversity and unity of Klal Yisrael - Jewish Peoplehood. Exhibit is on display at the JCC Staenberg Family Complex, 2 Millstone Campus Drive, through August 10, 2012.
This is a joint project of the Central Agency for Jewish Education and the B'nai Amoona, Shaare Emeth, Shaare Shalom and United Hebrew Religious Schools.

Women's Philanthropy Shower @ Covenant/CHAI

Women’s Philanthropy of Jewish Federation held its 4th Annual “Shower our Community with Love” Event at Covenant House/CHAI. Over 110 women participated in the program which included remarks from Joan Denison, Executive Director of Covenant House/CHAI, and Emily Stein MacDonald. Participants packaged over 250 Welcome and Welcome Back Bags for the residents who live at the facility. More than 40 residents joined the group for the dessert reception following the program. Chairs were Kim Goldenberg, Lisa Pollack and Emily Stein MacDonald.
